Settindown Creek is a tough course. It's a sleeper in that area, not many know about it. I think one course was the Trophy Club of Alpharetta and another one was off Densmore, can't remember the name. I past my PAT at trophy club way back in 1993. I too was a PGA pro at St Ives, but got out of the business in 1999

The Capital City course at Crabapple is next to Atlanta National, it's not Settindown, that one is still around off Cox Rd

Played Atlanta National last week, not nearly as nice as it once was. Never played Hawks Ridge. I play most of my golf at Crystal Falls. Always in great shape!

I think Echelon became the name soon after they opened. Like a year after, people thought it was exclusive to GA Tech and it wasn't. The course went bankrupt and was bought in 2014. The new owner built the clubhouse and made many improvements to the course. That back nine can eat your lunch up and down those hills.

You're correct; Ansley GC bought Settindown Creek, not Capital City Club. Got the downtown 9 hole private clubs confused.

We've probably met then. I was an assistant at Rivermont from '95-'99. Passed my PAT down in Savannah at what is now Savannah Country Club (used to be the Wilmington Island Sheraton Resort). The first pro at Settindown was Craig Hartle; he was the pro at the Sheraton Resort in Savannah before he left to go to Settindown. I'd known him for years and it's why I picked there for sectional qualifying. I've played the Trophy Club at Alpharetta; as a matter of fact, I was playing there the day Payne Stewart died and one of the pros there left in tears because he had known Payne for years and was understandably distraught.
