The walleye in this part of the river are my favorite. I had never fished them before moving up here last summer . Long handled net is a must along with a very loose drag . Took losing my first 5 or so at the boat to learn this . The fight is like a dead weight with constant head shakes with paper thin mouths so pulled hooks are a problem if you fight them like a bass. If you do hook one that feels really big position your boat over the deepest water near you because after you get him to the boat and he takes off on that run he will go straight to the bottom and attempt to rub you off on the grass covered rocks like he is rubbing off a parasite. With exposed treble hooks this is where you will lose him..I use 20lb braid with 12 lb fluorocarbon leader as my go to for either fish..good luck and enjoy !
