Probably written about riding in a stage coach.

It's about a ship on the waves
That's from 1934. The song "My baby rocks me (with one steady roll)" dates from 1927.

Regarding that song "My Daddy Rocks Me With One Steady Roll," was 1927 the first year we hear the lyrics? The tune itself seems to go back further, as there are some instrumental versions of it that I have copies of. This includes Jan Garber and his Orchestra in 1924, although it's under the title "If You Don't Want Me (Stop Doggin' Me 'Round). Always assumed the title was changed to be 'cleaner' as it was put out on Victor Records, which frowned on things with innuendos and such. And also, there's the recording by Francis Craig and his Orchestra, under the title "Steady Roll Blues," recorded in Atlanta in 1925, and released on Columbia. I think a few others recorded it as well, but I'm assuming instrumentally. When it's played instrumentally, it always seems done at a faster tempo.

This is not rock and roll. Swing, big band. Not rock and roll.
