Indeed!
To me, this was the first scene which really underscored that Trek characters didn't have to all be cut from the same moral cloth.

It makes me wonder if DS9 even gets made if Roddenberry had been alive and in creative control. He preferred his Star Trek to be a "humanity at its best" - DS9, while an amazing show, was definitely not that.
