I like Bayou City Aire. They do the routine maintenance for me and they are a local, small company. They like American Standard products. I've also used Polar Air but they cut a stud to get a stud mount unit installed in the apartment of my garage without telling me. The unit has been great, but that kind of rubbed me the wrong way.
I was about to install new units for downstairs and upstairs at my house. I was going top-of-the line so the price is astronomical. Unfortunately, a few other items have gone out that needed replacing so it is delaying my HVAC project for the time being.

The brand can play a part but the installation will be the difference between a problematic system and a long-lasting system.

Many on here will recommend Trane.
Not me. frick Trane. They're the shittiest company i've ever dealt with. Piece of shite equipment and company. I'll never pass up a chance to tell people how awful they are.

I’ve heard some say Goodman is the very worst and some people say they have Goodman condenser and handler that are still working just fine from the late 90’s.
I have had Goodman 2xs on new construction homes. Neither time did the system go for 2 years without terminal failure.
I will never buy Goodman, Amana or anything else in that line.
We built again last Summer and I have two Lennox systems- No complaints! The house in 2900 sft.. Highest electric bill so far.... $129.00. Below $100 most months.
