The American electorate in good swathes of the country are far left nuts. Those that aren't far left nuts get lumped into that side as they hate and fear the right on instinct.

History is a guide here: Midwestern farm boys had nothing in common with Abolitionist fanatics and had far more in common with poor white trash from the South in the Late Unpleasantness. That didn't prevent them from rushing to colors on the side of fanaticism, did it? They hated and feared some mythical version of what they thought was their enemy rather than the actuall fanatics they sided with.

With the Left, there is a tremendous case of blinders of what their side actually is all about. Show a moderate Democrats Libs of TikTok of trannies twerking in front of children and they won't recoil in horror--they will accuse you of it not being true and still vote for Democrats.
