Why did you shift from your Burrow example? Was it because he actually made a similar point that Reece made and it destroyed your argument?

I was actually about to post this. Directly from Joe's Heisman speech:

quote:

Coming from southeast Ohio it’s a very impoverished area and the poverty rate is almost two times the national average. There’s so many people there that don’t have a lot and I’m up here for all those kids in Athens and Athens County that go home to not a lot of food on the table, hungry after school. You guys can be up here, too.

A really uncharitable reading of both Joe's and Angel's comments would be "the system is skewed against poor black/poor white people." I choose not to see it as that.

And his earlier example of "they felt like Clark was disrespecting a black SC player" is uncharitable too. It's silly to think that Angel and Morris were teaming up on Clark because they felt like she was insulting black players. And that's why Whitlock's statement about "Reese was upset that a white player was doing well" is bad too.

Say her celebration was ill-timed or a bad look. I disagree, but you're well within your rights to say that. But I don't like throwing race around in it

Why did they then feel disrespected about something Iowa did against South Carolina? Morris was making a big deal about it soon after Iowa won.

Unless they are saying the defense was making fun of something LSU did or didn’t do when USC beat LSU easily in regular season it makes no sense. It has to be something that makes them feel some kind of sisterhood bond with those South Carolina and not one with Iowa…
