I had some spots like that, roots seemed rotten and grass would be bleach white. I thinks it’s fungal because saw some spider web like fungal stuff on dew grass blades one am. I could pull up st August strands and roots are short and very dark.

I sprayed with fungal spray.. couple weeks later did Scott’s disease ex and am slowly applying peat moss to the worst spots . Seems to be working. I also applied grub ex because I was really paranoid about it.
