I was in college and still awake when ESPN broke in to announce it. Everyone was stunned. Tyson was the immovable object and won fights before he even stepped in the ring. It was a major shocking sports event.

The only other athletes in my lifetime who had that aura that the game was over before it began were Jordan in the Finals, Montana/Brady in Super Bowls, and a few others in their primes of their sport (Carl Lewis, Michael Johnson, Edwin Moses, Graf, Tiger, Serena, Gretzky, and a few others. But that Tyson loss was a shocker.

Will never forget, when doing the preview of the fight, Larry Merchant was at the fish market and said…When all is said and done…Douglas is just another fish at the fish market.

Obviously not on the same level but when Serra beat GSP in their first fight.
