You need to sign out all other devices and change the password on that account and set up 2FA. Then go through all other possible accounts that could be accessed through your email (Online banking, credit cards, insurance, anything with your cc# stored or personal info like your ssn) and do the same. Different passwords for each with 2FA.
Also when you call Amazon back make sure you report suspected fraud. The regular customer service people aren't great, the fraud department will be much more helpful. It's possible they've been buying things all day with your account.
You may not do much with your email but if someone has logged in to your account, there's really no way to tell what else they have access to. It's probably best to assume the worst in a case like this. You might even want to let friends, family, coworkers know in case they've gotten any suspicious emails from you lately.
