All I know is that you are 100% guaranteed to not be attacked by an alligator if you stay away from where they live.
That said, if you value and enjoy the time you spend kayaking, that enjoyment has to outweigh the concern/fear of gators.
This is all moot, though, because everyone knows it is the GDCKs you really have to worry about.
