The problem is they're asking the wrong question. The problem is people feeling justified for increasingly violent behaviors against innocents, gun use in these instances is just a symptom of the problem. The real problem is tough and requires uncomfortable discussions about people, groups and behaviors so they go after the inanimate object instead.
It's like blaming forks for obesity. If we just had smart, common-sense fork control we could eliminate the obesity problem in the US once and for all. Right?
