Really surprised at some of the criticism in this thread. I’m sure it’s a bit of a blimp before the inevitable crash, but this was absolutely a win for the ceo bros.
Was Kendall’s pitch super cringe to begin? Of course. Was the edit of his dad probably something that’ll come back to bite him in the arse? Obviously
But was repositioning a traditional company as a tech company to jackup valuations a successful play? 5-10 years ago when money was cheap and everything was growth growth growth? Absolutely, it was the easiest way to get earnings multiples inflated. It’s basically what WeWork did. He even rose above the Manson tweet which was obviously an attempt to provoke him. Everyone said it in the room afterwards, he nailed it
And Roman, was he a bit impulsive? Sure. Did he go in with a mapped-out plan? No, but at the end of the day he canned someone who it seems like was hemorrhaging money money and making shite movies while disrespecting him. Him canning her was an absolute no-brainer, and I thought if he’d done anything else it would’ve been a joke
Is he asking for respect his dad earned? Sure, but that’s the way it works folks. Regardless of how someone gets to the top, those types of folks demand respect. I’ve been fortunate to be around a couple of them, and the only thing less attractive to them than incompetence is disrespect. The handful of extremely high-level folks I know who run companies would’ve executed anyone who spoke to them like that
The Gerry firing was a bit of an overreach but still possibly defensible. I thought his comment about even if you don’t believe in me I need you to act like you do or something like that was really insightful in an odd way
They’ll surely crash in the end, but the bros somehow nailed it this episode

Ehhh, I feel like these last few episodes have really driven home how in over their heads the CE-Bros are.
They were both embarrassingly incompetent in the negotiations with Matsson. Attempting to lie about him at the beginning of this episode was also pathetic. It came across so unbelievably weak and incompetent that they seemed like children, probably why Shiv related it to their youth.
Kendall was a manic mess this entire episode, dropping inane corporate lingo word salad that didn't even make sense while running on a weird manic high. He was about to commit blatant fraud and make a national joke out of himself if both Roman and Karl hadn't made him pull himself back at the last possible minute. His decision making is erratic and borderline delusional. He fell arse backwards into a decent win for the moment despite terrible decision making up to that point.
Roman has been overly emotional and pretending to be Logan by just hastily firing people. He's a nepo baby with zero competence, which is why people don't respect him like they did Logan. I thought the show also tried to make it very clear that firing the well-connected Hollywood executive, when most talent in LA won't work with them due to ATN, was a bad decision.
They are not serious people.

The problem with the Gerri firing is that she knows where all the bodies are buried and pretty much can't be just let go without an agreement. She knows that. Everyone knows that. That's why the inner circle never goes away.
Hell, if I were Gerri, I'd be begging for the golden parachute! Every time I've been in similar situations (mergers where folks were going to be gone) people all hope to be gone and get the package. No one wants to stay!
