Social media in this area is going nuts and thousands are signing some kind of online petition.

I’m sure it won’t do any good, but the agents need to be ridiculed for doing this. They offer $6 a tail from dead neutrias to encourage them to be killed. What’s the point of taking a family pet in this way

gov has to be mean and tough to keep up the illusion they’re in charge.

Its an invasive species that does a ton of damage to the coastal marshes and levees. Thats the whole reason for the nutria bounty program.

Not a problem when the family pet is well taken care of and safely contained, but when they escape or the owner turns them loose for whatever reason, they cause problems for the local ecosystem that may not be easily fixed. See Florida with all the invasive reptile problems due to pet owners releasing their exotic snakes when they got too big.

Maybe LDWF can inspect the home and the cage its kept in and give some sort of special permit to let them keep it. But there’s a good reason why certain animals aren’t allowed to be kept as pets. The idiots who don’t secure their animals or turn them loose when keeping the pet becomes inconvenient ruin it
