Sorry not a regular follower of this board but wanted to ask a few questions.
I played this very briefly back in the 90s and am considering trying again. I do not have a computer so it would involve buying a set up.
For a complete newb, how challenging is it to get flying and enjoy the game? Before I spend the money, I would want to consider if it’s something I’ll derive enjoyment from (for spending that much).
How many hours practice do you typically spend? What do you enjoy about it?
I’d probably be the type of user that would spend a few hours per week and to be honest I don’t have a great amount of attention span for video games that are quite complicated. I’d be grateful for any feedback that might help me to decide if this is a reasonable endeavor or not.

I would recommend picking up an Xbox Series S or X if you're just wanting to play MS Flight Sim since it is included with Game Pass. There are flight controls available for the Xbox and you will get great performance out of the Series X.

That depends on how much of a "simulation" that you want to run.

Xbox is the choice for you, start off with the controller then graduate up to Flight Controls.

Thank you! I thought of going that route as well which wouldn’t be as much an investment as well as allow plenty other gaming options (not that pc wouldn’t)

MSFS is fun because you can make things more complicated if you want to, or you could just grab a controller and get into the air almost immediately.

I love it. Play it at least once a week. Use it to scout my trips before hiking. Found some cool overlooks spots using it before.

Interesting to know. I’m an avid hiker as well. Pc or Xbox?

The new Microsoft flight simulator is the most visually impressive piece of software I’ve ever seen.

I use PC. I've picked up some good spots in Yosemite and RMNP by flying on Flight Sim. Love it to set up good sunrise/sunset shots.

It’s cool. And then you do the top gun missions and you never go back lol.

I ordered my Xbox Series X slated for delivery Wednesday. I've been watching some YouTube videos and, whew, it seems like a lot of details. Any flight sim quick start or YouTube channels you can point me to are greatly appreciated.

Also, what other games are enjoyable (maybe even slow paced) on the game pass?

Try some of the walking simulators like Firewatch and What Remains of Edith Finch, which tend to be very forgiving and slow paced for inexperienced gamers.

I also enjoy the flying aspects in such games as the Far Cry Series. Depending on whether you'd enjoy a tropical (FC3/FC6), Asian (FC4), or Montana (FC5) setting, that preference would define which entry you try first.

Thanks. I got my xbox x this week and have started MSFS and enjoy it a lot. Prob going to order the Turtle beach yoke/throttle set up soon so I don't get too familiar playing on just the control.

I'll check these two games out. I checked out farming simulator thinking I would be easy to understand and all I could figure out is how to drive the tractor around town to wreck stuff.
