We already had a hurricane Cindy too. It was in 2005 right before Katrina. That was one of two times I went through the eye. The other was Zeta.
Cindy was a small storm that wasn’t declared a hurricane until after the fact. Prior to it being declared a cat 1 hurricane I was involved in a conversation with Bob Breck He was asked why the National weather service didn’t recognize it to be a hurricane. He said that it was probably because they didn’t predict it to be a hurricane and that they didn’t like to admit they were wrong.
I guess that it was such a minor event that we can reuse the name.
