I’ve always been fond of this music. Not just bluegrass, but real folk music. Just watched The Mountain Minor. Acting is what you would expect, but the music is phenomenal.

That being said. I’d love to to hear some of this live. Are any good places in WV or Kentucky where you can still go hear this?

There are festivals for bluegrass (one word, btw) all over.

All over North Carolina and Virginia. There’s a huge multi-day bluegrass festival in Wilkesboro, NC called Merefest (started by Doc Watson). The headliners tend to be “newgrass” but they still have oldtimers playing in circles on the festival grounds.

Greensboro, NC holds the NC Folk Festival.

There are still bluegrass concerts broadcasted on radio stations live on Friday and Saturday nights from local theaters around here too. You can easily find at least one bluegrass show or jam night locally during the week.

Search for any shows that David Holt has produced. He’s a folk musician and music historian. He has a PBS show that’s very interesting. David Holt-PBS

Arkansas Traveler

I’ve been having an Arkansas Traveler moment with my windshield wipers every time it rains lately. When I need to change them it’s raining too hard, but when it’s sunny I don’t need em.
