I would think it does matter if the assertion is that Desantis can outdraw Trump in overall voter support. I’d think the candidate who garners the most votes would be the most viable. Could Desantis get to the 74 million that Trump got? It’s a fair indicator.

Trump as Republican lost AZ and GA and candidates he endorsed lost every statewide race
