Right - that distinction has to be made. It's always very tough for someone without clinical depression or anxiety themselves to understand. It's not just "oh someone yelled at me and it makes me sad" or "i just have the blues and feel down today". It includes physical symptoms like racing heartbeat, hot flashes and skin flushing, tremors, sweating, etc. The meds help to keep the physical symptoms under control in my case.

Take one for anxiety.
Now instead of having panic attacks over issues big and small, I have appropriate amounts of anxiety for a situation.
The SSRI shouldnt make you feel numb, just help have appropriate emotional responses to things.
