But that’s their whole identity. The MS GOP, known as the Dixiecrats circa 1960, isn’t driven by ideology, or even racism anymore. It’s just a social network that vets people on their way up, chooses favorites, and pushes them into power. There is almost never any viable opposition; there is only the family. It’s a special and very southern way of governing, and it’s guiding philosophy, to the extent it has one, is pragmatism. It’s hit and miss, like any model, and I think Tate is a competent man.
