Okay so now that playoffs are out of the picture (I know not mathematically, but come on), what positions are we looking at in the offseason?
I'm thinking safety and o-line.

Build through the draft...and since we keep giving our picks away...that will be tough

I think that 2008's draft will prove successful, 2007...not so much.

an outside LB to replace Shanle, another DT alongside Sed Ellis, like Kris Jenkins who the Jets got from Carolina, that dude is just destroying people.

The FO will shrug their shoulders while Grant and Smith burn marshmallows for their smores with $100 bills.

DT is fine. Klancy has been really good.

Clancy's a solid backup, that's it.

DT should be low on the chart.
OLB
S
LT
are the three biggest needs.
I think we should try for a LT in the first.
The would allow Brown to move to RT where he would be better.
With our 3rd we should try to address the two needs left over from above or a RB.
Then BPA 4th, 6th, 7th.

Number 1 priority has to be a new safety. I do not want to see Kevin Kaesviharn on the field unless we are winning by 21 minimum. Then we go from there.

My argument is that
1) This is a insanely good LT class
2) By drafting LT you essentially upgrade two positions since this trickles over to RT.
Also we have to think about CB depth since McKenzie went down for the year.

Well next years draft wont help us this year... Porter will be solid for us in the coming seasons.
AND since next years draft is loaded as you say, then why not get a safety first, or even trade that first rounder for a few other picks and pick up a safety and LT? I really feel that our OLine play is good enough to win games. I also really feel like our safety play loses us games, so therefore in my mind safety takes priority over everything, but i do see what you are saying.

Yes, but McKenzie is really injury prone and stuff like that gets worse as a player's career progresses. If we can't count on McKenzie to play a full season then we need an extra CB that can step in.
With McKenzie we have
McKenzie/Porter starting
Gay at the nickel.
If McKenzie goes out Gay has to start and we are looking at David playing the nickel.

Because we don't have a second round pick.

If we can get a good trade then it would be a good move, but I was intentionally ignoring trades because there is no way to predict them.

John Abraham put on a clinic against our LT. People have bitched about our running game for quite a while, which is at least in part due to the OLine. Adding Nicks has been good, but getting a franchise LT can be as important as a franchise QB.
Ask the Browns.

I really dont even know why we run the ball. Hell, I think we should run the TexTech offense and let Breesy pass it 60 times a game. Our O-Line can pass block aight, but not run block. Its just a matter of what the organization thinks is worse, our safety play, or OLine play.

and who is on the board.
If Moore and Mays are good then picking S would be a bad idea.
I'm not actively against picking a S. However there are four crucial FB positions LT is one of them.

We will have very few draft choices next year. Our 2009 draft will be basically Vilma and Shockley.

Any safeties coming up in FA? That would be best.

We're fricked. The team we fielded this season is basically the team we field next season as well.

Oh keep in mind if the Vilma conditional pick inflates to a second then it interferes with the Shockey deal and we give up our first in 2010.

Dawkins and Will Allen at FS, if we have the money.
