Try because of legal requirements to be valid...I have had several "do-it-yourself" wills presented to me to open successions which were fatally defective and invalid for varying reasons.

I don't blame people for trying to do things on their own...I'm not a doctor but that doesn't stop me from googling health symptoms, car repairs, etc. that are outside of my expertise. However, sometimes you really do get what you pay for. If you are trying to be sure that your last wishes are able to be followed and that things are as easy as they can possibly be for whoever has to handle things after you die, bargain-bin pricing on your estate plan can be risky.

Wife and I both had new wills drawn up, cost us $500 for both (necessary in LA with the crazy Napoleonic code/laws we have)

do you have any advice for something other than a will thats easier on the successors? Im divorced. If I die before my daughter is 18, I would like the money to safe for her until shes old enough
