I realize you know this already, but it's unlikely the vaccines will do anything to prevent this. They are probably correct that the excess deaths are due to covid. Although much of the excess deaths are probably due to the shortage of deaths during the pandemic due to so many people isolating.

We, as a species, simply have to adapt to covid, just as past generations had to adapt to the other corona viruses that are now just colds. In the mean time some will die, and some will suffer. Luckily, it is not too bad.

Unfortunately, we just don't have the technology yet to inoculate ourselves from this.
