Can you bump up your budget to make it to a 2022?

I've considered it. The 'base' model SR's are actually pretty well equipped, and with 4wd can be had for about that same price. I've turned into an old man just default hating all things twin turbo v6 though.

I just haven't reconciled how one version of a truck can look quite nice while the other seemingly exact same truck can be so god-awful hideous.

Yea they offer so many different packages. Some color matched, some chrome, some chrome and color matched and then like 6 different trims. It is a bit ridiculous but I guess that makes it something for everybody. I personally really like the new body style.

I never drove the 5.7, I'm sure it was a beast. But this i-force max twin turbo will scream. 0-60 in 6 seconds. I was fine with it because I liked my eco boost so I was fine with a v6 and I kind of trust Toyota to make a quality product. You just don't hear about motor troubles with any Toyotas.

Might be worth test driving. But the 2021 are a great looking truck too.
