Burrow was in a different situation. He had earned his degree at Ohio State in 3 years. Thus, when he transferred to LSU he was a Graduate Transfer and had immediate eligibility.

my post said nothing about immediate eligibility. It was about the OP's silly rule about a transfer voiding the redshirt.

2015 Burrow redshirted at OSU
2016 Burrow played at OSU
2017 Burrow played at OSU
2018 Burrow grad transfer and played at LSU
2019 Burrow played at LSU

Under the OP's rule, Burrow's eligibility was exhausted after 2018.

The RS would in fact be voided under the new Portal rules, which have been in place for 4 years. Graduate Transfers are not the same as portal guys transferring. My take was I don't think Burrow, who got a degree from Ohio State should be compared to the portal guys transferring.

The Rules the OP is talking about are in effect what the NCAA passed just today. If you do 2 portal transfers, you have to sit out a year and thus loose a year of eligibity.

My point was that Joe Burrow when he transferred to LSU had a degree in hand, which puts him in a different group of players who are going to the Portal, some several times (i.e. JT Daniels has hit portal 3 times). JT Daniels situation under the new portal rules will not happen.
