I thought context mattered?

You can’t pick and choose which context matters…

The over arching context is most relevant:

Example of over arching context:
white people have historically used the N word as an insult-

Example of smaller context:

A white person signing the words to a song-

In the scenario you painted , yes, in context, the girl was signing the words to a song …the word was there, she sang it - if the songwriter didn’t want white people singing it…don’t put it in there. I get it

But that violates the much larger context of that word.

My whole life, i have been raised to not say that word BECAUSE OF THE HISTORICAL OVER ARCHING CONTEXT….white ppl know this word is wrong! Just because it’s written in a song doesn’t make the historical context disappear _ the word can never be redeemed

Why do you keep ignoring the other half of the discussion, where a black man used the word to belittle another black man?
