help me plan. will be week of May 21
I have a contact in Louisville that will allow us a private tour of Spendthrift Farm, horses, etc.

want to do a few distilleries (buffalo trace, maker's mark, woodford reserve)?...

Which are a MUST? and how many can I do in a day?

Looked at Gorge Underground in Red River Gorge for cave kayaking/hiking as well as in Mammoth Cave NP.

which is better? or both worth it?

anything horse related around Churchill Downs or other track(s) or horse sales, farms, etc.

where would you stay and what else to do in that area for a week long stay?
TIA

Depending on how long of a day you want, we did 3 in a day on my bachelor party. Stayed in Lexington and visited Makers Mark, Heaven Hill, and Buffalo trace, one clean sweep.

I would definitely recommend those 3 but would also add you could fit in Willet and I believe Wild Turkey (unable to visit those two)

Makers Mark had the best tour, hands down, and you can buy a bottle to dip in the wax. They also had the FAE 01 and FAE 02 available for purchase. Heaven Hill allows you to bottle a Elijah Craig Barrel proof to take home which was cool, and Buffalo Trace is Buffalo trace.

I would also recommend 4 roses as well. Fun little tour and while they don’t offer the limited editions to buy, you can try them at their onsite bar for the best price you’ll see on it.

Woodford wasn’t bad but also kind of meh, may have been being a little drunk but seemed a little underwhelming.

ETA: haven’t done the Louisville side but definitely want to check out Angels Envy, Old Forrester, and Michters off hand. I know there is more there.
