This. The fact that the story became about disciplining an upstanding OIC trying to do the right thing is a sad state of affairs.

And the military brass wonders why recruiting is down. Don't get me wrong, I'm very proud my wife and I served (USAF), but I'm equally glad neither she nor I are active duty any longer. The status quo is untenable and NOT focused on unified warfighting.
