Bama Week: A little ember of anger.

Friends, there is a little ember of ire glowing in the darkness of my soul. A tiny flicker in the night sky. And its pulsing, burning, growing into the flame of rage. And I am somewhat anxious, maybe even scared, maybe even terrified, at the thought of the towering inferno it will be come Saturday afternoon.
You see, Nick Saban is a liar. And I'm not talking about the petty selfish lies he told when he left LSU, or the even greater boldfaced lies he told when he abandoned the Dolphins organization. I'm talking about the lie he has perpetrated with every disengenuous word, every sly action, every whispered insinuation since he returned to college football.
Nick Saban wants to pretend that he made LSU, that he reached down into the red clay with his own hands and sculpted Baton Rouge ex nihilo, out of nothing. He wants to pretend that there was no LSU before 2000. He wants to deny the existence of the Billy Cannons and the Tommy Casanovas and the Kevin Faulks. He wants the world to forget heritage, tradition, the '88 Earthquake Game, the 1979 crowd that could not be stilled, Bert Jones to Davey, and a lil' old Halloween scamper. He wants to take something that was built with the joyous hearts and strong hands and tireless voices of long generations of Cajuns, great grandfathers and grandfathers and father and sons of Louisiana, and he wants to make it his own. Because his hubris knows no bounds. After all, what are we to him but coonasses in a ditch.
It's the truth he wants to blot out, and the truth is this: as much as he made us, we made him. His agent begged for LSU to rescue him from the obscurity of Lansing, begged because even Saban knew that LSU had all of the resources to become a juggernaut. And juggernaut we were. And juggernaut we are long after Saban's shadow has passed from here.
We made you, Nick Saban. And like an angry God displeased with the conniving, arrogant, foolish creatures He has unleashed upon the earth, we are going to unmake you. In the old testament style, with a deluge, a flood of noise in your ear, to drown your ego.
So when Saban marches into Baton Rouge Saturday with the delusional barbarian horde, I am imploring the fans of LSU to stand and rise and scream for sixty minutes. No booing, no grumbling, no doubt, no despair. No petty violence directed at hapless Bama fans. Just the implacable appetite of Tiger Stadium noise. Stand in the place of all the Tiger fans of eras past. Stand to reclaim what is ours. Stand so that there can never be any doubt that we, the fans, the people and living spirit of Louisiana, gave birth to the tradition of LSU football.
Louisiana has given us much, let us give her the vocal defense she deserves.

Oh cool, another "I hate Saban thread".

We lose by two TD's. Sorry, buddy. But good writing style.

He brought LSU back to glory people! Do you think he didnt? Do you think all the other coaches would have got you on the right path? I cant understand this liar crap is all about, or the hate.

Bravo! Bravo! You surprised me with that 312.

yeah, but we're going to unmake him with his own players. Is that ironic? I still don't know what that word means. Maybe I need to rewatch Reality Bites.

I assume you are a Bama fan. Painful as it is, I agree with you 100%. I don't know if you are new to this board or not...but many people that post here have a "Saban penis envy" about them. They can't turn the page. It is sad really...we have a pretty good football coach now, too. I am highly grateful to Saban for what he did with this program, yet I do not sit around and jerking my wee-wee wondering what it would be like if he were still here. I wish everyone else were like that.

Actually, if you read the entire post, I was trying to pretty clearly state that we DON'T need Saban to be a great program. LSU football is and has been much more than Saban.

I wasn't referring to your post...but to the attitude of a lot of fans in general.

bama was 7 and 6 last year. we have 5 straight and 7 of the last 8. Everyone's talking about saban's young team. The offensive line has 3 juniors and 2 seniors, the quarterback is a senior, I don't know about the rest. Bottom line, these are Shula's recruits.

+1.
Regardless of what happens this year...we will continue to beat his arse while he is at Bama.

Very nice writing style indeed! However, you've gone a little too deep with the knife. Saban resurrected us from the dead! He re-molded us, he restored what was resting peacefully in the ashes.
We had a quiet repose with a couple of Dinardo years, but alas, we were resting peacefully toward the end of his tenure. Or were we the fierce Tiger rising from the ashes? We needed someone to stir up the pride and bring us back. His name was Nick Saban and for that I must offer my sincere thanks. His gift to LSU may have been a selfish one that made him who he is. That gift continues to give in a restored tradition of winning at LSU.
Geaux Tigers... and do us proud Les Miles! You are carrying the torch that Saban handed you with a powerful glow. Keep it burning strong.

All these idiot Saban lovers want to go to the game and clap for him and thank him like he gives a shite about them. I can't wait for this game and I hope we kick his arse. This is LSU. You want to go cheer bama, go put on some houndstooth underwear and quit calling your self an LSU fan. Saban and Bama go down Saturday.

I gave Bobby Jindal my vote, so I've done my part to defend her.

I'll take the Walrus and 5 pts!
There is no delusion at 9-0! You guys are for real.

No, beliving your own hype makes you delusional. SI hardly even mentioned Bama this week as you oozed into #1 under cover of a favorable schedule. If you are as great as you think you are shouldn't you have even gotten a mention? The meltdown is gonna be fierce in Gumpland come this Sunday. I can't wait to watch Saban's presser after this one. As I've said all week....Karma is a funny thing.

I'm not saying that Alabama will win -- I believe that we will, but it's going to be a game that is fought in the trenches...

Well said 312! Geaux to hell Bama!
