What I have. Looks like you took out your deflector plate. Are you happy with the results? I’ve been wanting to do this to mine.

I took it out within the first two months after testing the temps in different parts of the pit. They were all over the place with the spot closest to the smoke stack very hot. Everything is pretty even after taking it out. But it was a pain in the arse to try and cut the joints of the deflector on the firebox wall. It’s a tight space and my Dremel could only score them, which was enough for me to snap the deflector off by bending it up and down. It wouldn’t give at all until I scored those joints, even after cutting through the ones on the side.


I bought a rectangular bread pan and it fits perfect next to the firebox and holds water for about 8 hours during a smoke.
