In my humble opinion, it’s not a wise investment to dump a large sum of money on an athlete who’s unproven at the collegiate level. Yes, throw some money at him, but don’t back up the truck for him. It’s just a huge risk. You saw what happened at A&M. Save the big money for proven athletes who have performed well on the collegiate field and off the field. Pay big money to keep the proven players on the roster and pull proven talent in the portal as needed. Modest sums should go to the freshman class with the understanding that they’ll make big money if they perform well on and off the field.
