I look at it like this, there are still some spankings I remember to this day, 40 years later, and I know what I did that was stupid to deserve them.

How many kids that got put in "Time out" can remember what corner and what they did to deserve it, not many I say.

I hated them as a kid, but those lessons taught by a belt worked.
