We need corners but we aren’t setting the precedent for future recruits by being the program “that can offer more” and that our best and final offer isn’t really out best and final offer.

It’s a bluffing game at this stage and don’t be surprised if Ricks says frick it and commits to LSU anyways regardless of Bamas big offer.

The situation:

Ricks wants to be a Tiger at heart and does not see himself playing anywhere else

Bama is making it hard and offered him the type of money to where Ricks might not be able to say no

This is fan fiction lol. Why assume he wants to go to LSU for love of the school but could only be interested in Bama for money? Whatever helps you cope I guess

I know I’m in the minority on it but honestly frick that. If that’s it then bye dude.

In life, if you find you can’t say no, you are a slave.

You can say no. If he says yes it’s cause he wants to.

Its one thing if a recruits only driving factor is the most money, but If a coaching staff knows a recruit has his heart set on another school, yet they say to the kid "I understand that, but we're willing to pay you X amount more" and its too much for the kid (or their family) to turn down....every coach that does that deserves for that player to not align and then enter the portal after year 1.

Maybe Im naive but Id think coaches would be wary about bringing in a kid who had his heart set on playing for an opponent and was only willing to come to their school for more money (or because their family pressured them to take the extra money). Seems like recipe for backfiring ala 8&4.
