The spot stays vacant for the remainder of the year then it is filled with the incoming class of plebes. This goes for anyone that quits or is told to leave.


And how common is it for a cadet or midshipmen athlete to rise to the opportunity of being a high draft pick in a professional sport?

Seems like a lot throughout this thread are confusing delaying mandatory service versus eliminating mandatory service component.
