so router to adaptor to coax to adaptor upstairs to wifi point upstairs? It bridges ethernet to coax back to ethernet?

Yeah the MoCA adapters create an ethenet bridge across the coax. It's similar to how powerline adapters create an ethernet bridge across your elecrical outlets. That's another option too but coax works better usually.
