I was 13 when I went and saw Return of the king, we were on vacation in NYC and I begged my parents to let me go to a Sunday morning matinee in Times Square so they could do whatever they wanted .
It was a 2,000 seat theatre and the ticket was $13 way back then and of course the movie was awesome

We went and saw this opening day at an IMAX, but the best part was at midnight it started with the extended version the Fellowship of the Ring, next the extended version of the Two Towers, and then The Return of the King. With intermissions between the movies we were there until around noon. Long but worth it.
