We just did that. I'm back in town every 2-3 weeks. Moved to Baldwin County (eastern shore mobile bay). Love it so far.
It was the same reasons. Got tired of the violence and the generally shitty attitudes.
It's a shame as I really enjoyed New Orleans for a while but it went from a good to bad value in cost-benefit so we got out.
