I've got Illustrator, and generally use it for after-image text effects.... A buddy of mine has been preaching "use the Illustrator pen tool" gospel to me incessantly for so long that it makes my neck spasm just thinking about it....
I'll check out the link and assess the fark's feasibility in the next day or so.... see if Illustrator' all dat.....

I haven't even watched the tutorial yet, but I can see by your image the way the different "planes" are defined (nice work, by the way).
