Any real estate appraisers on here?

I know there are a few.
I am currently working full time as an accounting assistant and going to school part time. I was initially thinking of becoming an accountant mostly due to the job market and security but I know I would like other lines of work more than accounting. I am interested in possibly becoming a real estate appraiser. From what I can tell from reading online lately there hasn't been as much work as there was before when the housing market was booming. What do y'all think of the outlook on it? And especially the next couple years, I haven't started taking classes to become a trainee or anything but if/when I do, do you think I will have a difficult time finding somebody to take me on? Do you think this is a bad time to get into it? I know it is always pretty hard to find someone willing to train you.
I live in Texas, and county appraisal districts seem to hire pretty often, but I don't think this will really help in any way other than showing that I'm interested in the field. If now is a bad time to try to find somebody to train me, do you think getting one of those jobs could be of any benefit?
If I go this route I do want to finish school and get certified eventually, but I wouldn't mind working as a licensed appraiser for a bit.

Might want to jog over to the money board and do a search. There was a very lengthy post on this subject not long ago. I’m too lazy to search it for you lol!!!!!

I've been a commercial appraiser since graduating college. Got my MAI a few years ago and have been at a large national firm for 8 years now. Happy to discuss pros/cons and general career path with you
