The 83 Saints lost on a last second FG to miss the playoffs and finish 8-8. The defense was one of the NFL's best led by City Champ, a coked up Dirt Winston and Whitney Paul. Hardly a bad team.

Damn Mike Lansford and his bare foot for eternity for kicking that game winner. That also begs the question--why no more barefoot kickers? Lansford, Tony Franklin, Rich Karlis and who else.

Fun Fact--that defense was one of the all time greatest. Bruce Clark, Frank Warren, City Champ, Jim Wilks, Whitney Paul, Doc Kovacs, Dirt Winston, Dave Waymer, Frank Wattlett et al. They only score they gave up was that last second field goal. the other points came from two pick sixes thrown by the ancient stablier, a saftey and a punt return. Jeff Groth was the leading receiver. Jeff Frickin Groth. good times.
