I am writing a paper on NCAA rulings against college athletes; especially ones which inversely impact that athletes ability to compete.

So far I am talking about the Jeremy Bloom case (CU football player who had his eligibility revoked for accepting skiing sponsorships) and Darnell Autry (Northwestern football player and drama major who was not allowed to participate in a movie role he had accepted).

If you know of any other significant cases regarding athletes in any sports along this nature any suggestion would be welcomed. I've got enough on those 2 cases to write the paper but thought some additional cases would be helpful.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I forget the particulars, but one I believe was Dale Brown wanting to bring his players to a funeral. The NCAA said no dice.

Also, the NCAA fricked with Rick Majerus for buying a kid a pizza and talking to him after his brother killed himself.

Georgia fans tried to buy a plane ticket for an opponents dad who was in Iraq to see the game and the NCAA wouldn't let them.

Arnold Palmer took Tiger Woods out to dinner during his time at Stanford to congratulate him on winning the US Amateur.

NCAA made Woods send Palmer a check for his portion of the dinner ($25)

Rick Reilly article from a while back

quote:

It's not an easy job, picking nits this tiny, but nobody is up to the task like the NCAA. Take the time the organization told Aaron Adair, a third baseman at Oklahoma, that the book he'd written about surviving brain cancer meant his amateur career was over.
