I don't know if "excited" is the right word. But it will be interesting to see how the team looks.

Pretty solid competition,

Yeah...not so much.

That is a pretty weak field. Kansas St is picked to finish last in the Big 12. Nevada is picked to finish 9th (of 11 teams) in the MWC. Rhode Island is picked to finish in the bottom 1/2 - 1/3 of the A-10. The best team LSU may play in the entire tournament will likely be their second round opponent (either WKU or Akron).

If there were a line for such, LSU would be the odds on favorite to win the tournament. So anything less than 2-1 would be really disappointing. Who knows what the season will bring, but I'm not expecting this to be an opportunity to pick up many, if any, "key" wins come March. However, it is an opportunity for the team to continue to grow and get better on a neutral site playing 3 games, against 3 different opponents, in 3 days.

WKU is always a solid team and this year they are playing a 7'5" center. Tulane (you failed to mention) has three solid wins. Cherry picking the worst teams in a tournament that LSU may not even play is silly. This is a solid tourney for LSU considering this team is still learning to play together.
