I posted this on Tiger Rant the other day:

quote:

We'll be heading to Atlanta to see our Fightin' Tigers play in the SEC Championship. It'll be my brother-in-law, my two nephews (18 and 20), me and my three kids (14, 16, and 20).

I haven't been to Atlanta since the Tennessee game in 2007. I'm sure a lot has changed. That said,

Where's the best place to stay that's relatively convenient to the stadium? It looks like the downtown area is either booked or very expensive. Are there other areas of town we should consider?

What are some good places to eat and drink? More lively sports bar atmosphere and not strictly 21+ bars (kids are underage).

What's the best way to get tickets?

Has LSU released any activities, tailgates, Friday night pep rally, etc?

Can you recommend some good restaurants and sports bars to visit? We're looking at an AirBnB by the Fox Theater, but haven't made accommodations yet. Middle part of Atlanta or Mid-town and the Beltline were recommended spots to stay.

Went to Gun Show in 2019 for Oklahoma game. Was pricey, but a really cool place and good menu. They have several chefs there that each make something for your table.

With that group I'd suggest to just hop on at the nearest MARTA station Friday evening and ride to Decatur. Train will drop you off right in the square where there is tons of food options and bars and all is pretty much family friendly.

Food - Deer and Dove (farm to table), Iberian Pig (tapas), D92 (KBBQ), Brick Store Pub (Pub food, awesome beer program, go upstairs to the Cask Ale bar and the Belgium Bar), White Bull (pasta), Leon's Full Service...theres a bunch more

Sports/Bar - Twains (brewery/pool hall), O'Sullivans Pub (will have a few TVs with sports on), theres a Taco Mac that is walkable that is a local chicken wing/sports bar chain that will have a bunch of TVs with sports on, also a Grindhouse which is a local burger chain that will have sports on

Check out and see who is playing at Eddie's Attic on Friday night, great venue

Could always stay in Marietta/Smyrna(look into the battery where the braves play), Uber to a marta and take Marta to the stadium. That’s my go to.

There are restaurants all in the battery and it’s a fun time. Antico is there (best pizza in Atlanta) and fox brothers bbq. C ellets is good as well and they have a wine bar and dualing pianos bar. I’m sure it will be filled with pups but would definitely look into that area

Here's the rail map for Marta.

Areas I'd check out Midtown, Arts Center, Buckhead, or Dunwoody/Sandy Springs areas for hotels.

Midtown/Arts Center:
walkable, a lot of hotel & restaurant options.

Buckhead: uptown area, walkable with Lenox Mall nearby.

Dunwoody/Sandy Springs: not as walkable but a bunch of hotels & Perimeter Mall nearby.

Sports Bars

Stats: sports bar near Mercedes Benz.

The Battery: development attached to the Braves stadium. A lot of cool stuff to do. It's not on the Marta route but highly recommend. LINK

Check out the LSU Atlanta Facebook page for updates. They're in the process of putting some stuff together. TAF and the SEC usually have some stuff at the Georgia World Congress Center which is right beside the stadium.
