No, from what I've read (on random twitters fwiw) he was Ethan's Fraternity brother. Possibly a pledge that drove them home that night and Ethan Venmoed him money for the ride home is one speculation. And that's why he sent $6 to the gofundme. Returning the money Ethan paid him for the ride that night.

Ethan Chapin paid a Jack Katovich money at 10:40 pm on November 12. You can look that up on Venmo. It is still on there.

Lots of red herrings in this case. It will tie you up in knots. But ultimately, it won’t lead anywhere.
