Lot of positives with LSU football right now, so let me ask about a negative...

We could have used a QB sneak a few times yesterday. Do we have that in our play book? I know we don't line up under center often, but we did in victory formation. What's the story?

Jayden is fairly light in the seat is all I can think of.

The 4th down play call Kate was brutal. They knew we would run because of passing game struggles. If going to be obvious line up under center and get er done!

I’ve noticed fewer and fewer teams are using the qb sneak. And, insanely, more of them are running short yardage plays from the shotgun or pistol instead of under center.

The 4th down call was a zone read and Daniels botched the read. They showed it clearly during the replay on the broadcast. When the DE crashes inside, it’s an auto-pull and run for the QB. If he pulls it, he has an LB who’s set up inside and he’s certainly a lot faster than to beat outside for 1 yard.

I’m not saying Denbrock called a good game yesterday, but we still win comfortably with better execution. The penalties, turnovers, drops, bad pass protection and Daniels reverting to being indecisive were an anchor. Different calls don’t fix all of those issues.

The LBer had already scraped to the outside and had leverage on Daniels. The correct move would’ve been to take one of the 3WRs off the field and replace with a TE/H to run split flow zone. You can even do split flow zone read and have the TE/H block the scraping LBer.

One move and he’s by him for 1 yard. Daniels 100% made the wrong read.

You got fooled by terrible analysis from McElroy. Did the backside defensive end crash? Yes. Did Daniels have room to run if he kept it? No. There was a linebacker sitting right on the edge unblocked waiting for Daniels. On 4th and 1 you don’t want a foot race to the sidelines, you want a runner going north and south to get the 1 yard. We had every Arkansas player on the play side blocked. The backside end crashed hard enough to catch Williams before he could get to the hole.

I don’t like shotgun, slow developing plays on short yardage. But it wasn’t Daniels fault.
