You're insane. The NFL is amazing right now. I've watched since the late 80's, and it keeps getting better. Sure, there are dud games, but it's evolving quite nicely, IMO.
No question that the athletes are better. What I've seen over time is a lack of corresponding quality in execution. Is it possible that so many terrific athletes all over the field cancel each other out? Maybe so, but it feels like there's a consistent level of inconsistency by even the best teams on both sides of the ball.
Penalties and replay have almost made the freaking game more about the Announcers/Broadcast than the action on the field. (Noticeably worse for CFB
