If he played in Atlanta, he wouldn't be as good as Ryan.

Put him on a team like the Patriots or Cowboys or another team with a better Defense and offensive line then I think he'd do a lot better.

put him on a team with an Oline and some decent wr's and you'd see something. His best reciever is Zach fricking Miller.

If he's under good management, good coaching, and a good o line to give him time to throw w/ a legit receiver or two, I bet he'd be pretty good. So basically the opposite of his current situation and he'd be a promising NFL QB.

He would still suck, IMO.

he had ten yards passing yesterday

I would say no better than he is now. At best marginally better. His draft class was not the year of the QB, that's for sure.

Can you think of any other team, he'd be starting on? Detroit, maybe?

I've said this before, but if you put him in ATL he does better than Ryan. He has done almost as much as Ryan without nearly as much around him.
Lets go through the stats.
JR's completion % is 6% lower than Ryan. If you have watched JR you've seen 3-5 dropped passes per game. If this was adjusted down to a normal team his completion % would be as good if not higher than Ryan's.
JR has thrown fewer picks than Ryan anyway.
Ryan has thrown one more TD. Go back to the drops thing. I have seen 2 or 3 basically sure TDs dropped by JR's WRs. If those aren't dropped JR has more TDs than Ryan.
Keep in mind this isn't even mentioning the fact that Ryan has a much better running game.(JR lead Oakland in rushing yards this week with 2 carries.) Ryan also gets much better pass protection.

I was at the Saints - Raiders game and he overthrew multiple recievers. One was a wide open touchdown. It would take a lot for me to believe he'd be better than Ryan.

Matt Ryan = 24
Jamarcus Russel = 0
Ryan>Russell
No argument. Not debateable.

I bet T.O. would prefer JR to that douche Brad Johnson.
