Thanks, Zappas.

We prefer the “local” stuff, so this is great!

OK, Here are some more obscure things to do.

Westergas Park is a new park built on the site of an old gas works just north of the canal zone. It is a nice park but also has cafes and restaurants within the park. Troost Brewery is a local place with good beer and a cool atmosphere. Rainari is a great North African restaurant.
Just beyond Westergas is Old Farm which is a working farm that employs mentally disabled people. They have a cafe that is great for lunch and even though you are surrounded by the city, you would never know it sitting on the patio and looking out over pastures.
Now if you really want to get obscure, in the same area is Tuinpark Zonnehoek which is a Garden allotment area where people rent a plot and grow their own veggies or just have an ornamental garden. Many plots have sheds that people live in during the summer. It is a very peaceful area in the middle of the city.

I've got a bunch more I'll post later.
