We loved Picos de Europa if you like hiking, mountains etc. Gorgeous and the people were very friendly. Stayed at Hotel del Oso and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Northern Spain.

Definitely trying to get some type of mountainous terrain on the itinerary. Attempting to decide between Picos, Pyrenees, or even taking a flight to somewhere in the Alps.
Did you visit any other towns in the region?

Potes which is near Hotel del Oso
San Vincente De la Barquera- ate at Restaurante Las Redes- very good.
Santillana del Mar- a bit touristy but still very cool medieval village.
Bilbao is fantastic and underrated IMO. Eat at Casa Rufo.
We loved the trip out to Gaztelugatxeko Doniene- Game of Thrones setting.
San Sebastian is of course incredible.
(Picos were the farthest we went to the west)
What I understand, the Picos are just as beautiful as the Pyrennes but smaller crowds.

Awesome. I really appreciate the insight.
I assume you rented a car and drove to each location?

Yes, very easy to drive, great roads, signage, toll roads. Watch your speed due to cameras.
