that Kevin Garnett's number will eventually be hanging in the rafters at the garden because of last season, even if he only plays in Boston for 2 or 3 more years. I disagree.

Discuss.

Paul Pierce has a better chance.

He also said Garnett is the best PF in the league, which is absurd as long as Duncan is still playing.

Duncan is the cornerstone of 4 titles, Garnett was riding the coattails of Pierce in the Finals.

As for Garnett's number being hung up, I agree with Van Gundy that longevitiy has to be taken into consideration. If he's only a Celtic for 3-4 more years I don't think that's enough. At this point it makes more sense for his number to be retired by Minnesota.

I'm a Mavs fan. And Duncan/Garnett are 32, so the "age" argument doesn't have any value.

Garnett played for the TIMBERWOLVES dude, c'mon. We're talking about the better individual PF here.

But if you put Garnett on the Spurs, they don't win four titles?

And if you put Duncan on the T'Wolves, they never get out of the first round of the playoffs either, and probably don't even make the playoffs as much. Duncan gets a shite ton of calls and is a product of Popovic to a certain extent.

It's gonna be a long year for the softest team in the league.

actually, you can make the debate that if you swap Garnett and Duncan the Spurs would NOT win 4 titles. A huge part of the Spurs' success is Duncan's style of play. Low post, back to the basket, excellent interior defender.

Garnett is more of a jump shooter, can disappear for large stretches offensively, and cannot imprint games as well as Duncan can.

Duncan is unanimously recognized as the greatest PF of all time. Garnett will be recognized as a top five PF in the history books.

I would agree with you if we were talking about the best PF 3-4 years ago, but now..

Proof? If you have watched the Mavericks like I have for the last 7-8 years you would know this. Hell, listen to Dallas sports talk radio. They were dogging them today for how big of a joke their physicality is.

Well thankfully basketball isn't a physical sport.

What makes them the "softest" in the league then? They're a jump shooting team, just like the Warriors, Hornets, Blazers, Bulls, Pistons and a bunch of teams that are lacking consistent interior scoring.
